Country Profiles: Community-based Mental Healthcare Networks

The national Country Profiles (CPs) present key facts and priorities for transformation of mental health (CBMH) systems towards community-based mental health care in a compact format. They summarize the results of the Situation and Needs Analysis (SANA) performed at national level and for selected pilot areas, recommendations and prioritized measures as well as outlining next steps necessary to promote and pilot activities aimed at further development of CBMH care in the respective countries.

The CPs are an integral part and output of the (pre-implementation phase of) JA ImpleMENTAL, leading to the formulation of action plans for prioritized measures and pilots. The action plans guide and promote the successful transfer and pilot implementation of selected elements of the Belgian best practice of mental health services’ in the implementing countries in a structured and comprehensive way.

The Country Profiles form the basis for developing abovementioned action plans, for policy/strategy formulation, decision-making and are also a declaration of commitment to the advancement of community-based mental health in the countries covered.

All countries participating in Mental Health reform produced Country Profiles: Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, France, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Serbia, Slovenia and Spain. CPs are all structured in a comparable way (sections, indicators presented), the main focus does however not rest on comparability, but on national and local usability/value of the profile e.g. as input for strategy and (pilot) action development/revision.
