Pre-conference Workshop on Mental Health
On Wednesday, November 9, 2022 the German Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA), together with the Austrian National Public Health Institute (GÖG), will host a Pre-conference workshop dedicated to mental health in the frame of the 15th European Public Health Conference EUPHA) in Berlin – https://ephconference.eu/
The pre-conference workshop entitled “Addressing pre-existing and emerging mental health challenges in times of crisis and beyond – Strategies, approaches and practices from a European perspective” will bring together experts from across Europe to take stock and discuss strategies, approaches and practices used in different European countries to strengthen the mental stability of individuals and prevent the development or worsening of mental health distress as a result of crisis situations in the population. It will also shed light on initiatives engaged by different countries to improve public understanding of mental health and take action to destigmatise mental health conditions.
The pre-conference workshop will take place from 9 am to 12:30 pm on site in Berlin. It comprises two main thematic sessions:
1. Building resilience in individuals and protecting populations from mental health risks resulting from crisis situations
2. Overcoming stigma around mental health – A fundamental challenge under new attention
including inputs from Austria, Croatia, Germany and The Netherlands.
The organising institutions, BZgA and GÖG, as well as participating speakers are also part of the EU-funded JA ImpleMENTAL project, which focuses on implementing best practices in the area of mental health (https://ja-implemental.eu/).
