JA ImpleMENTAL meeting in Milan, Italy

Between the 14th and 15th of March 2023, a JA ImpleMENTAL meeting was held regarding Best practices in Community Mental Health Care, at the Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche Mario Negri IRCCS in Milan, Italy.

The event was attended by partner countries participating in the JA, with more than 30 participants present on-site, and more than 60 attending online.

Over two days, various ImpleMENTAL and guest speakers shared their knowledge regarding different topics of interest regarding community mental health care.

On the first day, which was chaired by Barbara D’Avanzo and Angelo Barbato, mental health care models across Europe and in ImpleMENTAL country partners were touched upon, as well as comparing their differences and similarities and discussing challenges and barriers encountered during the implementation of these models. The second day was chaired by Nathalie Belogrey, with the primary topic of discussion being coercion and restraints in mental health services and deinstitutionalization. Moreover, all the presentations were followed by a discussion between the participants, which further contributed to the quality of the meeting, and also demonstrated the relevance of the presented topics in today’s European societies.

The Milan meeting offered many valuable insights for future ImpleMENTAL activities, and we would like to thank everyone for their participation and contribution!
